Patricia Ann Young Wardlow, age 85, of Quincy, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in her home.

Patricia was born May 11, 1930 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of John and Emily Burgess Hostetter. She was married to Harold Young in 1947. She later married Aaron Wardlow in 1990. He preceded her in death in 2005.

Pat had retired after 16 years as secretary of First Christian Church, her lifelong church. She had previously worked at Blessing Hospital, Sears Service Center and the Corn Cottage. She had volunteered at many places including church, tutoring at Blessed Sacrament School, Adult Literacy Program with JWCC, and others. She was Quincy’s biggest cheerleader, always promoting its many virtues.

Truly devoted to family, Pat kept busy attending many activities and functions that involved her 22 great grandchildren. She loved crocheting, watching old movies, Frank Sinatra, Big Band music, Native-American things, dancing, playing games, canasta club (64 years), family photos, bus trips and trips to visit family. She was the queen of greeting cards, sending them to friends and family for all occasions and always with a hand-written note. The highlight of her year was the family reunion picnic.

Survivors include her four children, Shirley (Harvey) Kimble of Urbandale, IA, Candi (John) Freiburg, W. Todd (Mary) Young, and Greg (Mary Beth) Young, all of Quincy; 10 grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer) Young, David (Michelle) Young, Michael (Amanda) Young, Bryan (Sarah) Young, and Scott Freiburg of Quincy, Keith Young of Chicago, Matt (Jennifer) Freiburg of O’Fallon, IL, Chris (Andrea) Kimble of West Des Moines, IA, Zak (Meredith) Kimble of Keller, TX, and Alex (Nhu-Mai) Kimble of Mesa, AZ; 22 great grandchildren, Haley, Sidney, Aly, Ella, Brooke, Leah, Olivia, Maggie, Isla, Blaise and Conner Young, Hunter Goehl, Aiden and Maya Freiburg, Kinsley, Briley, Hadley, Porter, Levi, Ellie, Lincoln and Ezra Kimble; a brother, Jack (Linda) Hostetter of Camdenton, MO, 2 nephews and one niece and 7 loving great nieces and nephews.
