Clive Wayne Hemphill of Fredericksburg, VA, formerly of Gatesville and Red Rock, Texas, started his final walk home to his Lord on Saturday, April 30, 2016.

Wayne, as he was known to his family, was born November 7, 1933 in Gatesville to the late, Elvin and Verna Hemphill. He had two brothers, Estil Elvin Hemphill and Murvil Vernon Hemphill, who both preceded him in his death.

Wayne grew up among extended family and his family meant a lot to him. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in 1951. He served during the Korean War and served two tours in the Vietnam War. He proudly served for twenty-two years with the Marine Corps and then worked for ten years with the Department of Defense.

Wayne was married to Lona Crosby from 1955 to 1979. Their first child, Lona, died an infant. Surviving children include, Wesley Wayne Hemphill, of Rosharon, TX and Nona Hemphill Rector, of Fredericksburg.

Wayne was married to Brenda Faye Wells from 1985 to 2007. They had no children. Wayne is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kelly Rector, Brian Rector, Molly Hemphill Murdock, Gabriel Kurczyn, Sara Hemphill Laughlin, Mark Rector, and Zachery Hemphill; and one great grandchild, Evalyn Laughlin. He loved them all greatly.

Wayne's family will receive friends at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
