Marilyn was born in Taylor Township on May 18, 1943, the daughter of the late Albert and Alma (Dickelman) Boik. While at a drive-in in Wyandotte, Marilyn met her soulmate and best friend, Harry "Bill" McKelvey. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on September 4, 1965. Marilyn started her career as a biller and worked her way to the position of Office Manager for Jack Auffenberg's dealerships. She loved playing all types of card games, and held a special spot in her heart for Las Vegas. Marilyn raised three boys. Four if you include her husband who survives, Harry "Bill" McKelvey, Sr. sometimes affectionately known as "Sweet Willie."
