Albert "Edwin" Schoonover was born to Pearl Schoonover Hain and Sumner T. Agee (alias Joe Lenny) who left him at age 2 months, with her brother, J. Albert Schoonover and wife, Mary Ann Gilbert Schoonover, to raise as their own. Pearl and S.T. ran away to Denver to start a new life together.
