Mrs. Martha Pike Dies After Year's Illness
Burial Saturday in Second Mt. Pleasant Cemetery
Mrs. Martha A. Pike, wife of Martin Pike and widely known resident of Shelbyville, passed away at 12:40 o'clock Friday afternoon at her home after an illness of one year, due to a complication of diseases. During the past several days, her condition had been serious, with little hope for her recovery.
Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock this afternoon from the Bengal Chrstian Church and burial was in the Second Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Mrs. Pike was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Evans and was born July 19, 1871, in Illinois, being at the time of death fifty-three years, elevent months and fifteen days old. On July 4, 1890, she was united in marriage to Martin Pik and to this union four children were born, one of whom survives.
Besides the husband, she is survived by her aged father, Enoch Evans, of Shelbyville, a son, Glen, at home, and one granddaughter, Miss Frances Pike, also of Shelbyville.
