Mr. Tommy Rose Smith, 69, of Clinton, died Monday at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.

Mr. Smith, born in Johnston County, was the son of Lucille Parnell Smith of Smithfield and the late Lawrence Smith. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Smith.

He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and worked as a Truck Driver Training Instructor with Johnston Community College.

He is survived by his wife, Muriel Edwards Smith of the home; a son, Keith Smith and wife Kelly of Clinton, two daughters, Cindy Gibson and husband Paul of Newton Grove, Amanda Smith and husband Zakk of Salemburg, his mother, Lucille Parnell Smith of Smithfield, a brother, Rusty Smith of Princeton; two sisters, Janice Worley and Judy Jones both of Smithfield; six grandchildren, Karah, Rebekah, and Will Smith, Allen Peterson, Tyler McLamb, and Evey Gibson; four great grandchildren, Jason, Ashton, Nic, and Walker; a special aunt, Mary Parnell of Arkansas; foster daughter, Stephanie Marvigliano and foster grandchildren, Austin Coppola and Wyatt Coppola.

The family received friends 7-9 PM, Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the funeral home in Roseboro.

The funeral services were held at 2 PM, Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Roseboro.

Burial was made in the Oakland Heights Cemetery in Smithfield, NC.
