George W. Houchin, age 93, of Waukegan, IL passed away April 30th, 2016 at Advocate Condell Medical Center. He was born September 21, 1922 in Bloomington, IL. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Gurnee. Pressman for the Waukegan News-Sun for 34 years. He was a founding member of the Help Them to Hope Fund. US Navy Veteran. He is survived by one son, Alan (Cynthia) Houchin and one daughter, Linda (Les) Niemi. Grandchildren Scott Houchin, Matthew (April) Lasdasky, Jack (Kathy) Niemi, Les (Tara) Niemi, April (Kevin) Mallek and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lola of 69 years; his parents; 2 brothers, Wilbur and Durward Houchin. Funeral service will be Thursday May 5, 2016 at 11 AM at Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-8 PM and Thursday from 10-11 AM at Marsh Funeral Home. Burial at Highland Memorial Park.
