Born Feb. 22, 1889 in Smith Valley, she was the daughter of A. Bruce and Senie (Collgate) Smith. She was united in marriage to Clyde F. Garver on June 9, 1909 at her home in Hill Valley by the Rev. Samuel Norris. Her husband preceded her in death March 27, 1961.
She is survived by three children: Mrs. Agnes Morgan and Bruce C. Garver, both of Shirleysburg R.D.; and Mrs. Anna Rutter of Mount Union R.D.
Two sons preceded her in death, Leon F. and one who died in infancy. Three brothers also preceded her in death.
Eleven grandchildren, 29 great - grandchildren and eight great - great - grandchildren also survive.
She was the oldest member of the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren, Hill Valley, where she was a member of the ladies' Bible class and had taught Sunday school. She had been a teacher at the Cora and Colgate schools and was an assessor for Cromwell Township until age 80.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Harold Kenepp and the Rev. Albert Haught officiating. Interment will be made in Germany Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the services.
