The funeral of Joseph B. Dyer, husband of Ellen V. (Sullivan) Kenyon~Dyer and former president of the Painters Union, took place from his, 159 High Street with a solemn high mass of requiem in Sacred Heart Church at 9 am.

Rev. Thomas J. Stapelton, celebrant, was assisted by Rev. Raymond W. McCarthy as deacon and Rev. Thomas Cantwell of Richmond, VA as sub-deacon. Rev. Bart Buckley, C.S., SP of St. Anthony's Church, Portsmouth, RI was seated in the sanctuary. Sisters of the Holy Union of the Sacred Hearts and Sisters of Mercy were present.

Mayor Grant headed a delegation of city officials. The county was represented by Sheriff Patrick H. Dupuis. Stephen Angleton, general organizer, led the group from the National Brotherhood of Painters Union. The Mass State Conference of Painters was represented by President Victor Marquis and Secretary James McKinnon. Other officials represented the city's labor organizations.

Also represented were Frank Allen Wilcox Post, American Leigon and the Holy Name Society of the church whose members were led in prayer at the home last night by Father McCarthy.

The bearers all members of the Painter's Union were Thomas W. Stanton, Francis J. Murphy, Leo A. Morin, Henry Baker, Emile Vezina and Edward D. Fitzgerald.

Interment was in St. Patrick's Cemetery where prayers were read by Father McCarthy.
