Lois was born on February 14, 1920, in Minneapolis, MN, to Frank and Anna (Maas) Steckel. She was raised in Hankinson, ND, along with five brothers and one sister. She married her high school sweetheart, Allen Dibbert, in 1938, and they moved from North Dakota to Seattle in 1942 and then to Yakima in 1946. Together they had four children – two boys and two girls.
Lois devoted her life to her family. She was a great cook and housekeeper, and she loved the outdoors – feeding the birds, gardening, fishing, and traveling.
Lois is survived by one brother, Richard Steckel of Merrill, WI; her son Lee Dibbert and wife Barbara of Yakima; two daughters, Cheryl Swenson and husband Carl of Vancouver, WA, and Allene Howard and husband Bill of Whidbey Island; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Allen (Butch) Dibbert, her son Bruce Dibbert, four brothers and her sister.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.
