Jimmy Dan Sturgis

Jimmy Dan Sturgis, 62, of Union City died 1:30 a.m. Aug. 27, 2006, at his home. Memorial services are planned for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Dilday Funeral Home in Union City, with the Rev. Jerry Leggett officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the hour of services Tuesday. The family requests that memorials be made to Obion County Cancer Agency or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

He was born March 16, 1944, in Union City, son of Lucile (Roberts) Sturgis of Union City and the late Melvin Sturgis. He married the former Brenda Payne April 17, 1964. She survives. He had been a self-employed farmer and had worked at the Snack Shop in Union City. He was a member of the local Fraternal Order of Eagles and Jones-Walker Post No. 4862 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors also include two daughters and his son-in-law, Stephanie Sturgis of Dresden and Missy and Mickey Lyle of Union City; his sister, Peggy June Nichols of Mason Hall; two grandsons, Chase Lyle and Chance Lyle, both of Union City; and his nephew, Dan Nichols of Kenton.
