Rodney Wayne Cameron, 81, passed away April 20, 2016, at an Assisted Living Center in Fruitland, Idaho.
Rodney was born in Spokane, Washington on February 9, 1935, to Jack and Geneva Cameron. Later the family moved to Wallowa, Oregon, and in 1947 they moved to Indian Valley, Idaho. He went to school at the little two-room grade school in Indian Valley and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1954. After graduation, he joined the Air Force.
During high school years, Rodney was always driving his sisters to the teenaged dances, movies and roller-skating. He had such a great sense of humor, was a real tease and liked nothing better than to "get you" in a joke. He was so considerate and caring of others and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
Rodney worked for the Forest Service in the summers, on the Brownlee Dam and at Edwall Grain Growers in Edwall, Washington. He attended Community College in Spokane, Washington to study appliance repair, and repaired small appliances. He later moved to Jackpot, Nevada where he worked for Cactus Petes Casinos for over 20 years, retiring to Lewiston, Idaho. Later he moved back to Indian Valley and Council.
Rodney loved to fish and hunt and had a reputation for a very steady eye with a gun. His real love though was cars! Every couple of years he would come by with his newest vehicle, car, truck or jeep. One of his earlier cars was a little Triumph. He was so proud of it!
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Geneva Cameron, sister Alyce Cameron Green, brother-in-law Jack Green and nephew John Green. He is survived by his brother Larry Cameron of Spokane, Washington, sister Joanne Cameron Collins (Marvin) of Eagle, Idaho and many, many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Indian Valley Fire Department or the Indian Valley Community Hall.
Funeral Services will be held at noon on Saturday April 30, 2016, at the Indian Valley Community Church. Burial will be at the Indian Valley Cemetery next to our dad.
