She was born on Jan. 10, 1928, in Malone, New York, daughter of the late Roy and Ruth Beyerl. Phyllis has been a resident of Somers for over 50 years. She was an EMT for over 20 years for the Somers Fire Department Ambulance Division. She was a faithful member of the Somers Congregational Church for 48 years. Phyllis started out her working career as a nurse's aid and then later become a LPN, always devoted to her patients.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Jean Collins and her husband, Harry, of Enfield, William Hocking and his wife, Karen, of Somers, Patricia Hocking, of Somers, Sandra Keery and her husband, Malcolm, of Somers, and Deborah Edwards and her husband, Robert, of Somers; 48 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Noreault and her husband, Floyd, of Malone. Phyllis was predeceased by an infant daughter, Susan Hocking; and two brothers, Jack and Stuart Beyerl.
There will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
