OBIT:

Mary Wolfe [Lee] was born in Huntington Co., IN, April 25, 1858, and passed away of heart trouble at her home in Fremont, Iowa, April 29, 1931, aged 73 years and 4 days, after an illness of three weeks.

She moved to Mahaska County, Iowa, with her parents in 1873 and was united in marriage with N. M. Lee on October 14, 1875. To this union were born four children--Mrs. Jennie V. Boyd of Cedar, Mrs. Grace M. Lawson of Hedrick, William H. and L. V. Lee of Fremont who survive. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Three brothers Samuel Wolfe of Fremont, Freeman Wolfe of Fenton, Lincoln Wolfe of Montana and one sister, Miss Ellen Wolfe of Fenton, and numerous friends.

She united with the M. E. Church soon after her marriage and was a faithful and earnest Christian all her life. She was left a widow with four small children at the age of 26 and bravely took the burden, never complaining, always smiling, and was a kind and faithful mother. She lived on a farm two and one-half miles southwest of Fremont until the three older children were married, then she and Vernon moved to town and she has lived here since, about 28 years.

Rev. H. H. Fletcher, pastor of the M. E. Church, had charge of the funeral services at the M. E Church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Her grandsons acted as pallbearers and interment was made in the Kirkville Cemetery. A very large crowd was present to pay their last tribute of respect to one who will be sadly missed in home, church, and community. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. She was "aunt Mary" to scores of friends, and all who came in contact with her were benefited by her Christian example and loving sympathy.

Out of town people attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lee and Warren Jackson of Chugwater, Wyo., Freeman Wolfe of Fenton, Miss Ellen Wolfe of Whittemore, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wolfe and daughter Edith of Fenton, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wolfe of Klemme, Ralph Wolfe of Waterloo, Mrs. Calvin Householder and son of Lone Rock, Mr. and Mrs. Verle Wolfe of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Daisy Storm of Troy, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sisco of Eddyville, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sisco of Oskaloosa, Jake Sisco of Oskaloosa, Mr. and Mrs. John Scott of Mensena, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Lee of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lee of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Greenvalt of Massena, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Lawson of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Lee of Kirkville, Mrs, Lizzie Fickling of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Minnie Stroud of Richland, Mrs. Eva Failure [Failyer] of Richland, Lowell Storm of Birmingham, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Finnerty of Oskaloosa, Miss Winnie Garrett of Oskaloosa, and Mrs. Ben Crookham of Oskaloosa.
