Maxwell Centennial Book 1883-1983, Walsworth, Marceline, MO, USA, Page 83/84 under heading of Henry J. and Kittie Hall Garlock – “…. After their marriage, H. J. and Kittie H. bought a house in Maxwell one block east of Main Street and across the road south of the S.E. Cooper and Sons furniture store. It was there that their two older sons were born. In 1910 they moved the old house off the lot and built a new house on the same location. Their youngest son Robert was born there. The three sons of H. J. and Kittie H. all attended and graduated from the Maxwell schools. Fred and Richard graduated from the University of Iowa and later from Columbia University in New York. Robert graduated from Iowa State University in Ames. Fred claimed Maxwell as his residence until 1923. Richard until 1928 and Robert until about 1937. Those dates mark the times when the boys finished their schooling and obtained jobs elsewhere that in Maxwell. .......Robert worked first in the bank in Leon, Iowa and later was employed by the Dallas County State Bank at Adel, Iowa, until he enlisted in the Naval Aviation in World War II. He lost his life in an airplane collision during gunnery practice off Hilo, Hawaii in 1943. All of the sons of H. J. and Kittie H. married Iowa girls. ......Robert married Betty Ransom of Leon in 1941. .....Robert and Betty had no children. Betty was remarried years ago."
