After growing up as a farmer's daughter, and attaining an eighth grade education in Trevat, Texas, she married Jack Gelon McClintock, in 1945.

Lucy was predeceased by her mother, Ethel Lee Boley, Oct.12, 1951; and her father, Homer Lee Boley, May 5, 1971. She was also predeceased by the following brothers and sisters:
