He was awarded the Air Medal for valor. He served as a navigator on B-24's during WWII in China and B-29's during the Korean War.
He started out as a one-room schoolteacher and then volunteered for the Air Force. He spent 14 years in Strategic Air Command and lived in 9 states. He traveled to all continents except Antartica. He retired after 20 years in 1963 with the rank of Lt. Colonel at Kelly Air Force Base in Seguin, Texas.
He was born in Corydon, Harrison County, Indiana and passed away in Lake Alfred, Polk County, Florida.
