Karla Jean Brackey (Price) died peacefully on April 22, 2016 in her husband, Carling Brackey's arms in Jacksonville at the age of 65. They were married in Jacksonville, FL on June 30, 1974. Karla was born in Jacksonville, FL and attended St. Josephs and Bishop Kenny High School before transferring to Wolfson for senior year.
She was very involved in the cruise line business which led to a career in being one of the first Playboy Bunny's at one of the original clubs in Miami, FL. Karla was always the life of the party, always the one to make anyone feel welcome and at home. Karla enjoyed going to Chili's with Jessie, movies with her husband, reading and spending time with her family. She was cared for by her guardian angel Bobbijo Richardson.
Karla is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jean & Henry Buck Price; mother in law, Mamie Evelyn Brackey; brother in law, Channing Brackey; & son in law, James Grondzik. Karla is survived by by her loving husband of 41 years Carling James. Karla is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jessica Hillard & Brooke Grondzik; grandchildren, Cooper, Brae, Cason, Brackey & Tucker; siblings Mark Bubba Price, Janis (Charlie) Price, Mary (Allen) Griffis & Dawn (Greg) Phillips; sister in law, Lynn Brackey; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at from 11:00am to 12:30pm on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at Mandarin Cemetery. Please join us in honoring Karla's life following the services at the home of Karla & Carling. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL.
