Albert Gurnsey was born on the family farm, south of Clearwater to Sherman W. and Bessie Fuller Gurnsey. In 1929 he married Clara Branen and they moved to a farm southwest of Elgin where their son, Albert, was born in 1931. Clara was born on the family farm northwest of Neligh to Harry and Catherine Branen. After graduating Neligh High School she taught a county school in 1929. Due to the drought they moved south of Clearwater until 1940 when they moved to Rock county and purchased land 3 miles south of Bassett. In Antelope county Albert operated a threshing machine crew for 9 years.

Albert and Clara, their son, Albert and his wife Eveline, and their 5 sons, all attended Valley Grove Community Church. Albert was a charter member of the board of Camp Witness Bible Camp and served a Rock County Commissioner from 1958-1970. Albert was a 4-H tractor club leader for years. He build a house mover and was in the house moving business and had an electrical business which he later sold to his grandson. Albert and Clara were members of Gideons International and Clara was a member of the Friendly Circle extension club.

Albert farmed and had cattle and Clara raised chickens and sold fryers and eggs.
