HORACE G. KERNODELL FOUND UNCONSIOUS ON FLOOR – HELP UNAVAILING
Horace G. Kernodell, a resident of this city for the past two years fell dead from heart failure at his home 814 North Cherry Street, about 10:30 o’clock Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Kernodell had been spending the evening with Mrs. Kernodell’s sister, Mrs. Emma Simmons at No. 4 Broadway apartments, and Mrs. Kernodell had preceded his wife home in order to sweep the heavy snow from the front walk, in order that she might be able to enter readily from the taxi in which she was to follow him. Upon arriving home and not finding him to greet her, she hastened upstairs, and found him stretched out on the floor unconscious. The physician who was summoned immediately pronounced death instantaneous from heart failure.
Horace G. Kernodell was born in Lebanon, Indiana in 1854. He had held several responsible positions as general yard master for railroads in Ohio and Texas. He came here two years ago from League, Texas, to take charge of the freight department of the Rock Island Southern Railroad.
He leaves to mourn his death besides his wife, three children, Van Kernodell of Sacramento, Mrs. John Landran of Kingston, Oklahoma, and Harold Kernodell of Palestine, Texas. There is also one sister, Mrs. Urshey Darnell of Lebanon, Indiana.
The arrangements for the funeral have not been completed and will be announced later.
