Ada Josephine (Wortham) Dancer was born Thursday, August 5, 1915 in Soper, Oklahoma to Lee Roy and Chloie (Kannon) Wortham. She passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years and 2 months. Ada Jo married Elmer Dancer on May 13, 1930 in Boswell, Oklahoma and they had nine children over the next 20 years. They were married 56 years before Elmer's death in January, 1986.

Ada Jo was born into a wonderful, loving, large family; no time to get bored or lonesome. When you got big enough you worked in the fields to help get food on the table and to make ends meet. Ada Jo worked as a "Rosie Riveter" with Elmer and Uncle Bill Dancer at a airplane plant in Los Angeles, California during the war. They moved back to Boswell in 1943. She was a housewife till the baby of the family entered the 1st grade and she had to go with him to work as a cook with Lillie Lindamood, Mae Pebsworth and Susie Owens at the school. These four women worked hard and loved each other and the kids. People still talk about the good red beans, chess cheese pie and homemade rolls. Ada Jo loved her family and all the reunions on Lake Texoma at Camp Rio Roxie.

Ada Jo is survived by her four sons; Don Dancer and wife Roberta of Plano, Texas, Steve Dancer and wife Nancy of McKinney, Texas, Audis (Sonny) Dancer of Powderly, Texas, Darvis Dancer and wife Carla of Bennington, Oklahoma; four daughters, Cholie Jones of Boswell, Oklahoma, June Triplett of McKinney, Texas, Euvon Wages and husband Charles of Moore, Oklahoma, Gayle Hall and husband Dennis of Durant, Oklahoma; one sister, Essie Russell of Alabama; one sister-in-law, Murel Wortham of La Mirada, California; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces; as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Cholie Wortham; husband, Elmer Dancer; daughter, Joyce Dancer; grand daughters, Arvella Jones and JoAnn Dancer; great-grandson, Todd McMurtry, brothers, Roy, Arch, Willie, Audis, Bill and Wesley; sisters, Clara Wortham, Louise Wortham, Bessie Worthham, Lora Bokin, Lila Warren, Ruth Olsen, Polly Dean, Dessie Searcy and one unnamed girl; sons-in-law, Eric Jones and Kenneth Triplett.

Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Boswell, Oklahoma with Chaplin Steve Walker of Sunshine Hospice officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery, Boswell, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Great Grandsons Kyle Dancer, Cody Gilmore, Chad Gilmore, Cody Davis, Ryan Davis, Hunter Honsinger, Bryce Casteel and Kenny Jones.
