George Adams was born to Annie L. Tarr on Bleeker Street in what is now Greenwich Village, NY on November 23, 1877. He was raised in Park Slope, Brooklyn by Franklin A. and Annie L. Adams through the 1880's. He then moved to Middle Island, Brookhaven (Suffolk) NY around 1900 and worked as a farm laborer. He married Norma H. Swezey in 1901, and lived in Patchogue with their two children Myrtle (1901) and Adelbert Franklin (1904). They divorced in 1910. George lived in Yaphank, Patchogue and Middle Island for the next 36 years, working a variety of jobs, such as woodcutter, oysterman and farmhand. George was living in Coram when he died on April 23, 1946 in Port Jeff-Mather Hospital of heart disease. He was buried in Union Cemetery in plot 194, which was owned by his ex-wife's cousin Julia Swezey.
