Published in The Hickman Courier (Hickman, Fulton, Kentucky), Thurs., 3 Oct 1918 - HICKMAN BOY VICTIM OF HUN BULLETS - ONE OF FIRST TO GO - Ollie Pulen, a Hickman soldier boy, has made the supreme sacrifice, according to an official notice received yesterday by his mother, Mrs. Mollie Pullen, from the War Department.

Some two weeks ago Ollie was reported as seriously wounded, and it is probable that he succumbed to his injury.

Young Pullen went away with our first increment of draftees, and of course, was one of the first to go over.

He was born in Murry, Ky., July5, 1886, but for many years lived at Hickman and was employed by the Mengel Box Company. Since he left, his father and one brother have died.

He is survived by his heart-broken mother, a sister, Miss Lelia, and two brothers, Clayton and Wheeler.

The bereaved have the deep and profound sympathy of the entire community - as this is the third member of the family to pass away within a year.

Ollie Pullen was a splendid young man, and to know that he will never return is indeed sad.
