Funeral services for Mrs. Linnie Cortez Bilbray Pennington, age 87, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel in Springhill, LA, with Rev. Walter Holmes officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 22, 2016, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pennington was born on October 24, 1928, to Franklin Washington and Daisy Curry Bilbray in Springhill, LA and passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in Pipe Creek, TX. Mrs. Pennington was a homemaker and worked as a clerk for Blanchard's Men's Store, Mr. C's, and Robertson Pharmacy. She was a member of the Springhill United Methodist Church and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Pennington of Pipe Creek, TX; son, James Melton Pennington Sr. and wife, Pam of Houston, TX; four grandsons, Paul Payne and wife, Janette of Bandera, TX, Rene' Gomez and wife, Melisa of San Antonio, TX, James Melton Pennington Jr. and wife, Brandy of Huffman, TX, and Jason Pennington of Houston, TX; great grandchildren, Shelly Payne, Sarrah Payne, Kimberly Gomez, Katelynn Gomez, Hayden Pennington; sister, Cornelia Ossie Johnson of Houston, TX; brother, Larry Drew Bilbray of Jacksonville, FL.
Mrs. Pennington was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Ralph Melton Pennington, Sr. of 65 years on May 16, 2008.
