Birdie Elaine Blackwell Harrison, 94, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away April 18, 2016, at the Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

She was born on July 26, 1921, in Lextoning, Alabama, and was the daughter of the late James and Retta Thigpen Pettus.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd W. Blackwell on November 9, 1963, and he preceded her in death. On August 24, 2002, she was united in marriage to Joe Harrison, who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Spencer R. Pettus , James P. Pettus, and L. C. Pettus; and four sisters: Lizzie Mae Renfro, Oladean Peters, Earline Bealey, and Doris Forsythe.

Survivors include her sons, Lee Hampton of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Wade Hampton of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; daughter, Patricia Smith of Michigan; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

A private service was held under the direction of Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas.
