Dr. Black practiced dentistry for 45 years in Willow Street, PA. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and he was a member of Calvary Church in Lancaster where he served as a deacon. John graduated from Athens High School in Athens, PA, Whitworth College in Spokane, WA where he attended on a football scholarship and the University of Pittsburgh for Dental School. He enjoyed walking, gardening, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife are his sons, Dr. John C. Black, III, married to Toni C. of Lancaster, PA, and Todd W. Black of New York, NY; his grandsons: Ryan C. Black and Connor W. Black, both of Lancaster. Also surviving are his siblings, Betty Black of Lancaster, PA, Elouise Slick of Kutztown, PA, and Dr. Harold Black of Denver, CO.
Family and friends are invited to Dr. Black's Memorial Service on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. A greeting will precede the service from 10-11:00 AM. Private burial will be in Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery.
