Newton, 83, who died Wednesday after a long illness, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday at th First Baptist Church in Hickman. The Rev. O. C. Markham of Clinton, former past of the First Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Hickman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Newton is suvived by six sons, Clarence L. Newton of HIckman, with whom she lived, Ernest Newton of Robinsonville, Miss., Dave Newton of Ridgewood, New Jersey, Harris Newton of Detroit, the Rev. Jesse Newton of Halls, Tenn.,; and Joe Newton of Hickman; a daughter, Mrs. Virgle Cagle of Hickman; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
