Robert Newton Akin, 87, died on Thursday, September 28, 2006.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Paul Lewis and The Rev. Robert Lingle officiating. Burial will be in Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Akin was a native of Perry, Ga., and had lived in Washington, D.C. and Maryland, before moving to Lake Sinclair in 1977. He was the son of the late John Luke and Hattie Miller Akin. He was the widower of Janie Walker Akin. Mr. Akin was a Veteran of World WarII having served in the United States Navy. He worked for Mann Potato Chip Company. He was a member of the Sinclair Baptist Church, VFW, American Legion and was an avid rose gardener.
Survivors include two sisters, Lois A. Garner of Milledgeville and Mary R. Harris of Weatherford, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Williams Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of arrangements.
