Mr. Ates passed away on April 19, 2016, in Monroe, LA. He was an Army Veteran and served as a Medic during WWII. Mr. Ates was on the second boat to hit the beach in Normandy and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. He retired from IMC Chemical Company in Sterlington, LA, after 42 years of service. Mr. Ates was preceeded in death by his son, Wallace Ates.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years; son, daughter and four grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren, and two sisters.
