Robert (Bob) Leo Wethington of Rolla, Missouri passed away due to an accidental fall, on Monday, October 9, 2006 at the age of 74 years and 29 days. He was born September 10, 1932, in Beardstown, Illinois to the late Carl and Caroline Gladys (Patillo) Wethington.
He was united in marriage to Ann M. (Perry) Wethington on December 24, 1955 and to this union three children were born.
Bob was a State Land Surveyor with Missouri Department of Natural Resources from 1973 to 1996 and was instrumental in the development of the GPS coordinates for the State of Missouri. He was a member of the Missouri Association of Registered Land Surveyors, Rolla Kiwanis Club, Duck and Dive Square Dance Club, St. Patrick Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife Ann M. Wethington of the home; children Carl L. Wethington and wife Sherry of Mount Vernon, MO, Debbie A. Wethington of Rolla, MO, Katherine E. Cherches and husband Michael of Marietta, GA; one brother Patrick Wethington of St. Louis; sister, Mary Joan Williams of St. Louis, MO; aunts Sister Mary Bertha Wethington of Maple Mount, KY and Mary Louise O'Roarke of St. Louis, MO; three grandsons and two granddaughters, along with many nieces & nephews, and other family & friends.
Visitation for Robert Leo Wethington will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 13, 2006 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rolla. Memorials are suggested to the Newman Center or the Russell House.
