Janet Pearl Akiyama, 69, of Idaho Falls, died Nov. 29, 2004, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls of a heart attack. She was born April 30, 1935, in Glyndon, Minn., to Robert and Blanche Fletcher. She grew up in Minnesota and North Dakota. She attended high school in Fargo, N.D. On June 19, 1989, she married Joe Akiyama. She lived her adult life in California and Idaho. She was an entrepreneur who owned several businesses. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge. She loved to travel and play bingo, was an avid reader, and enjoyed collectable arts.

Janet was a special person to those who got to know her and her generous nature in helping those who deserve it. Survivors include her husband, two sons, two stepsons [names deleted], and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th St. in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today and for one hour before services Friday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls.
