EARLY SETTLER PASSED AWAY MONDAY, SEPT. 21.

Lafe Edgerton, 71, who had been in failing health for some time, passed away at his home in Pawnee City, Monday, September 21.

Mr. Edgerton was prominently identified with the early growth of this community, He was born on a farm in Clay precinct, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Edgerton, pioneers of the county.

Pawnee City and county were his home for the greater part of his 71 years. He was a successful farmer, a man who was highly esteemed by his neighbors and friends, and was one of our best citizens.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon at the Wherry Chapel at two o'clock, in charge of Rev. J. R. Simpkins, pastor of the United Brethren church south of town, the church where Mr. Edgerton attended and of which he was a member. Interment was in the Pawnee City cemetery.
