Virginia M. Markley, 93, of Orrville, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at LifeCare Hospice, following a brief period of declining health.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice at 1900 Akron Rd, Wooster, OH 44691 or American Cancer Society at 721 E. Milltown Rd, Wooster, OH 44691. .
Virginia was born March 13, 1923 in Fredericksburg to Clayton and Inez {Bungard} Cunningham and was a 1941 graduate of Fredericksburg High School. She later graduated from Wooster Business College.
On September 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to Donald Markley, after his discharge from the United States Coast Guard. They were married for 61 years before his death on January 5, 2008.
She was employed by the Box Board in Rittman prior to becoming a full-time mom. After her children were in school, she was employed by DEK in Orrville, a legal secretary, and finished her career as a school bus driver for Orrville City and Ida Sue. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking as well as having a great love for nature and her animals.
Virginia will be deeply missed by her children Cheryl (Rogers) McCumbers of Wooster, Carol Woodruff of Apple Creek, and James (Caroline) Markley of Orrville; eight grandchildren Drew, Brad (Vanessa Sanders) Wile of Wooster, Jason (Trista) Woodruff of Apple Creek, Jeremy (Leslie) Woodruff, Eglin AFB, FL and Steve (Aliza) Gill of Wadsworth; seven great-grandchildren Taylor, Tara, Noah, Lincoln, Abigale, Natalie and Andrew make the family complete.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters Lucille Markley and Leila Cornell, a son-in-law Galen Woodruff, five brother-in-laws and two sister-in-laws.
