FRANK ELIOTT BRIGGS WEST BERLIN — Frank Eliott Briggs, 77, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin. He was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Burlington, the son of Malcolm and Blanche (Minckler) Briggs. He was a graduate of Milton High School. Mr. Briggs was a veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1948. Mr. Briggs' first wife was Lucille Rumney; his second wife, Lois Buerman; and third wife, Rena Colgan. All of his loving wives predeceased him after courageous battles with cancer. He worked as an electrician for Norwich University in Northfield, retiring in 1988 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Northfield. He enjoyed collecting model trains, John Deere model farm equipment, listening to country music and spending time with his family. Survivors include his two children, Wesley Briggs of West Berlin, Cynthia Briggs and her husband, Paul Hill of Moravia, Iowa; one sister, Sally Morway of Grand Isle; three grandchildren, Nicholas Briggs, Joshua Briggs, both of Northfield, and Morgan Somers of Brookfield; two sisters-in-law, Amy Morway of Grand Isle, Victoria Briggs of Oakland, Maine; special stepchildren, Bruce Colgan and Penny Miller, both of Berlin; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Malcolm Briggs, his mother, Blanche Briggs Morway; two brothers, George Briggs, and Hubert Morway, and his sister, Abiah Briggs Allen. Frank was a beloved son, father, brother, grandfather and friend to many, he will truly be missed. Family and friends find comfort that he is surely in the loving arms of the Lord. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Grand Isle Cemetery.
