Gerald (Jerry) Donn Barnett, age 90 of Seguin, passed away on April 13, 2012.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 17, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Howard and Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

Jerry was born on Feb. 23, 1922 in Aspermont, Texas to John Wes and Johnny Belle Blanton Barnett. He retired from US Air Force in 1962. He worked for HEB and Civil Service as a MPC Counselor where he retired in 1977. He was a member and president of NARFE for over 20 years. He was ordained as a deacon in 1962 at Bellaire Baptist Church in San Antonio.

He served as a deacon and chairman of deacons in Universal City Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in Seguin, and helped start Forest Hill Baptist Church in Seguin where he was a deacon also. He worked for many years as a Boy Scout leader through Bellaire Baptist Church with Boystown Scout group.

He loved reading, traveling, and fishing which he never missed a chance to cook and never met a stranger. He always knew part of their family somewhere. He was a veteran of WWII, Korean Conflict, and the start of Vietnam War. He was the first Air Force recruiter in San Antonio.

He was stationed in San Antonio, Korea, Japan, and all over the United States. He was a lifetime member of the DAV.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice L. Barnett, his daughter, Joy Annette McGrady Bragg, his parents and his sister, Flova Wiltamuth.

Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Delores Tiemann Barnett; children, Donnye Barnett and husband John, Douglas Tiemann and wife Christy, Janell Tiemann; grandchildren, Victoria Mc Grady, Scott McGrady, Russell (Herk) Bragg, and Brian Tiemann and wife Amy; great-grandchildren, Taylor Bragg and Tammy Moncado; sister, Cora Holohan and husband Dave; friend of 23 years Kay Pope and her three granddaughters, Skyler, Summer, and Raina Pope and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hacienda Oaks Staff and Patti Bliss of Odyssey Hospice for their care. Serving as pallbearers will be Russell Bragg, Brian Tiemann, Tyler Weaver, Ray Vasquez, Bob Whitner, and Raymond Faulkner. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church.
