In 1901, Marcus was not enumerated with his parents, but rather as a domestic with the household of Robert Hedley, also in North Cayuga Township. He was enumerated with his brother Emmerson and his widowed mother in South Grimsby Township, Lincoln County in 1911.
Marcus was enumerated as boarder with Robert Towle in Stratford, Perth County in 1921. In 1931, he and his wife were enumerated in Stratford.
