Marshall Fitzhugh Bonnett was born in Lewis Cty,WV. Son of Samuel, Grandson of Jacob, G Grandson of Samuel, GG Grandson of Jean Jacque Bonnett. See bio of Samuel Bonnett buried in Cone Cemetery for more information. Marshall, his brother David Dade and brother-in-law went to California during the gold rush via ox cart. Marshall lived with native Americans for approximately 3 years where he learned the language and songs. When Marshall and David were ready to return to Iowa they could not find the brother-in-law and assumed he had been killed. Marshall married Lavina Samaria Ronk 26 Jul 1857. Lavina was born in Putnam Cty, Indiana. Children of Marshall Fitzhugh Bonnett: Jasper Newton, General Washington, Minnie Mae(Hunt), Lydia Evaline(Newhouse), Sarah Lucinda(McGee)(Willis), Marshall Edward, George McClellan, Samuel David, Ruth Elizabeth, Clarissa Clementine, John F and Matilda Annie.
