Fred E. Rippe was born September 20, 1902 on a farm near Ohiowa, one of 12 children born to Louis and Minnie Rippe, and died September 22, 1989 in Crete at the age of 87.


Rippe lived and farmed in Fillmore County and married Anna Stofer October 18, 1922. They were parents of two daughters, Elaine and Donna Mae. In 1941 the family moved to Crete where Fred was employed as a mechanic at the Buick Garage. He then worked as a machinist at the Yankee Hill Brickyard until his retirement.


He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Mae Tyler; wife, Anna; three brothers and four sisters.


Fred is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Don Reckling of Crete, and son-in-law Bill Tyler of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Larry Reckling of Crete and Judy Tapparo of Colorado; great-grandchildren Jeffrey, Todd, Tim, and Michelle Reckling, and Terry, Donnie, and Robbie Tapparo; and great-great-grandchildren Brittany Tapparo and Garrett Timothy Reckling; sisters, Mollie Dittmer of Crete and Louise Dittmer of Iowa; and brothers, Herman Rippe of Ohiowa and Harry Rippe of York.


Services were held September 25, 1989 at Kuncl Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Bonneau officiating. Soloist was Marilyn Kuncl with Gloria Pospisil accompanying. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Crete.


Pallbearers were Jeff Reckling, Todd Reckling, Tim Reckling, Wayne Matejka, Terry Tapparo, Don Tapparo, Rob Tapparo, and Ron Barak.
