August F. Q. Riek, aged 68, died July 4 at the home of his son, Carl A. Riek, town of Tiffany. Death came after an operation had been performed for rupture, front which Mr. Riek had been a sufferer several years.

The funeral was held Sunday morning July 7, Rev. J. Schneller of Prairie Farm conducting the service. Interment was made in Downing cemetery beside his wife who died six years ago. Mr. Riek was born in Schoenwerden, Germany. In 1865 he came with his mother and two brothers to Waukesha county.

He was married to Wilhelmina Schubel the same year. This union was blessed with four children. In 1874 the family moved to Dunn county, settling on a farm near Boyceville, where Mr. Riek had since resided. He was one of the early settlers in that part of the county.

He became a member of the Evangelical church early in life and was an earnest worker. For the last six years be had lived at the home of his son, Carl, who tenderly cared for him during his declining years. The surviving daughters are Bertha S. Riek, New Haven, Mrs. Anna F. Langdell, Elk Mound; sons, Herman W. Riek, Chlsholm, and Carl Riek, who lives in Tiffany. Two brothers are left: Mike Riek of Spokane, Wash., and Wm. Riek of Lake Beulah, Walworth county.
