Valerie Ann Marie Childress was born January 10, 1959, in Toronto, Canada to John and Emma (Watiea) Agnew. She passed away on April 9, 2016, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, with her family by her side at the age of 57.

Valerie and her family came to the United States in 1966 and established legal residency here. She attended elementary and high school in Glendale, California. After high school Valerie continued her education and enrolled in dental school where she earned her certification as a Dental Assistant. Valerie not only worked in the health care field for many years but she would also use her knowledge to teach and train others.

Valerie met Leslie Childress and they were married in 1979. She and Leslie had two children, Shane and Shawneese.

Valerie loved to hike, swim, camp and do any type of outdoor activity.

She loved her time spent with Leslie, be it restoring vintage cars, or working on whatever kind of project that should arise.

And Leslie felt the same as he referred to her as his strength and joy. She was a wonderful wife, friend and mother who had compassion for everyone.

Valerie leaves behind her husband, Leslie of the home; her two children, Shane Childress, and Shawneese Childress; two grandsons, Wesley Childress and Jamison Childress; her brother, Donald Agnew; and many dear friends.
