Obituary

2 Timothy 4:7
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept my faith.

ST. PAUL, VIRGINIA - Our precious husband, daddy, and papaw, Wallace Eugene Sexton, completed his earthly journey and made his way to Heaven on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the age of 87.

He was born in the little coal town of Dante, Virginia; son of the late Willard and Lucy Deskins Sexton. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Doug, Arch, and John D.; and one sister, Frankie "Sis" Rambo. He lived in Dante until the age of seventeen when he went into the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Wallace worked in the coal mines for over forty years. He was a devoted family man that adored his girls. He was a Christian and preached over forty-five years and led many people to Jesus. He pastored Wayside Assembly, which he called "The Little Church With A Big Heart", for twenty-five years. He had a host of church friends and many people that loved him. He always said, "Before You Take My Shoes Off, I'll Be With Jesus."

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Phoebe Parrott Sexton (they would have been celebrated fifty-eight years together on July 2); three daughters, Tammy Wright and husband, Clifford, Julie Mullins and husband, Michael, and Jill Salyer and husband, Timothy; five grandchildren, Charla Neece and husband, Rick, Adam Wright and wife, Tracey, Sarah Mullins, Madison Salyer, and Maddox Salyer; two step grandsons, Abram Mullins and David Wright; three great grandchildren, Bailey Wright, Kailey Wright, and Benjamin Neece; one step great grandson, Jacob Wright; several nieces and nephews.
