Helen Hester Ragsdale, beloved wife of Franklin G. Ragsdale, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 8, 2008.
Helen and Frank worked together for the Lord's work at New Life Baptist Church. For the past 11 years, Helen has put up a valiant and courageous fight with Alzheimer's. Even with the disease, when she forgot everything she never forgot her Jesus. We will miss her but also hold true to the promise that she is at home, where there is no pain.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 60 years, are a daughter, Frankie Loukides of the home; two sons, Samuel P. Ragsdale of Piedmont, James A. Ragsdale and his wife, Karen, of Easley; a sister, Louise Schweiker of Port St. Joe, FL, a brother, Donald Hester of Easley; her precious grandchildren, Kurt Greer of Ocean Isle, NC, Shane Roach of Easley, Pamela Nicole Luker of Simpsonville, Chris Loukides of Pelzer, Shannon Paddie and her husband, Travis, of Powdersville, Todd Ragsdale of Greenville, April Ragsdale and her husband, Vince, of Easley; six beautiful great grandchildren, Autumn Luker of Simpsonville, Kailey Paddie of Powdersville, Katie, Hunter, and Gunter Greer of Ocean Isle, NC, and Zane Ragsdale of Greenville.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Upstate SC Chapter, 301 University Ridge, Suite 5000, Greenville, SC 29601 or Open Arms Hospice, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
