"MRS. EMILY BEEDY TAKEN BY DEATH:
Mrs. Emily E. Beedy, 86, widow of the late Henry J. Beedy, died at her home in Manteno on Tuesday at 12:45 p. m. The funeral was held from the residence in Manteno on Thursday at 3 p. m., the Rev. W. H. Craine officiating. Burial was made in the Elmwood cemetery, Manteno.

Mrs. Beedy was born Emily E. Hatch, in Hardwich, Vt., on October 23, 1842. She came of an old family, her grandfather, John P. Hatch, being a captain of American soldiers in the Revolutionary war. His father came to this country from England. The Beedy family originated in the Isle of Jersey and came to America in 1726.

Emily Hatch lived in Vermont, studying to become a teacher, until she moved to Manteno and took up her chosen profession there. On October 18, 1865, she was married to Henry Beedy and they lived on a farm west of Manteno until 1911, when they moved in the villiage where Mr. Beedy died December 27, 1918.

She is survived by five children. Mrs. Cora B. Scudder of Sherman, Calif., Clarence H. Beedy and Mrs. Angie Peters of Manteno, Verner E. Beedy of Manteno and Vennis G. Beedy of Kankakee. There are 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Beedy was a woman highly respected and beloved. She had a keen mind, and preserved her wonderful memory up to the last. She was a good representative of the women of Illinois for whom much is owed for bringing up a family of children creditably to the state and herself."
