Royal was born on February 16, 1921, in Pana, Illiois, a son of Hiram and Verna Hamblin Bolding. He married Eva Miriam Finkbiner on June 15, 1948, in Pana. She survives.
Survivors also include a son, Curtis Paul (Loretta) Bolding and two step-grandchildren, Clinton Gudgel and Brooke Gudgel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Royal Bolding worked as a conductor for the Illinois Central Railroad.
Mr. Bolding enjoyed cats, photography and flowers.
