Information for this memorial obtained from the New England Historical and Genealogical Register, 160:53 (January 2006) for Theodosios Lanphere. Spelling for first name Theodosius provided by Find-a-Grave member "Mrs. London," #49100409.

Theodosius Lanphere was born in 1684 in Rhode Island, likely Westerly, as the seventh of nine children of George Lanphere. His mother is not positively known. Theodosius had eight siblings: Richard, Shadrack, Mary, Patience, John, Seth, Sarah, and Elizabeth.

On January 22, 1707, he married Rachel Covey and together they had 11 children, Theodosius, James, Joshua, Abigail, Susannah, Nathaniel, Mary, Samuel, Stephen, Jabez, and Joseph. Theodosius passed away in November 1749, with his will being proved on November 27th. He had made his will on February 5, 1737 in which he left son Theodosius 40 shillings and five shillings each to his other children. Wife Rachel was left the remainder of his estate for the "Bringing up & Maintaining of my Young Children."

FAG member Anonymous (46603377) sent an edit request to identify Jane Anne (Hulet) Lanphere (Memorial No. 190851037) as Theodosius's mother. I did not add her as his mother based on footnote 22 in New England Historical and Genealogical Register, 153:135 (January 1999) stating: "Many sources say George's (Theodosius's father's) wife was Jane Hulet, though none provide evidence for this statement. These include an LDS Ancestral File entry dated 1949 (AFN: IWRK-LP), but some data, including the spouse's name, are not found on the original family group sheet, and birth and marriage dates given for George are not realistic. The original as submitted (by Rebecca Stout...processed between 1913 and 1949, does not name George's wife." Anonymous does not appear to accept messages; therefore, I was unable to contact to request further documentation to add Jane as Theodosius's mother.∼m.
