Graveside Service for Elmer Lee "Uncle Al" Alexander are scheduled for Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, TX with Colonel Story officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Lexington. Elmer Lee "Uncle Al" Alexander was born in Mineola, Texas on January 13, 1933 the son of John W. & Nancy (Holland) Alexander. He was employed by the State of California as a teacher. He served in the Navy and was a chef on the USS Helena. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Kingdom on September 23, 1990. Elmer enjoyed fishing, playing with his dogs, genealogy, traveling, macrame, camping,stargazing, and helping anyone in need. Elmer passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at St. David's Medical Center in Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings, Marie Ludwig, John Alexander, Doris Lemoine, and Delma Ruth Alexander. He is survived by two brothers: Robert and wife Lucretia of Houston, James Alexander of New Caney as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Memorial may be given to charity of one's choice.
