Cormier, 75, of Danbury, husband of Mary (Gulla) Cormier; father of Michael Cormier (Jennifer) and Philip Cormier (Shannon); grandfather of Christina, Brittany, Alyssa, Cassie and Meghan; brother of Gary, Leo, Josette, Rosario, Guy, Frank and Roland, brother in law and uncle, died on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Regional Hospice for Comfort Care and Healing, Danbury.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury with Deacon William Murphy of St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury officiating. Interment will take place in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury, at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granviile Ave., Danbury on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 10: 15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

CORMIER, ABBE Abbe J. Cormier, 75, of Danbury passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2016. Abbe, son of the late Aurele and Odila Cormier, was born in Barachois, NB, Canada on April 7, 1941. He attended school in Barachois and served in the Royal Canadian Navy. In 1962, he moved to the United States and began his own hardwood flooring business, Abbe's Hardwood Floors. He later became an owner and partner of Kent Floors in Danbury, CT. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Gulla) Cormier, to whom he was married for 50 years. He also leaves his two sons, Michael and his wife Jennifer, and Philip and his wife Shannon; five grandchildren, Christina, Brittany, Alyssa, Cassandra, and Meghan; seven siblings, Gary, Leo, Josette, Rosario, Guy, Frank, and Roland; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the kind and thoughtful caregivers, staff, and volunteers at Regional Hospice and Home Care (Western CT, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to this exceptional community.
