Roland R. Bumpus {aka Bud, Tony, Papa} died on April 7, 2016 at the age of 94 after a long life and many glazed donuts consumed. He was a recent resident of Oklahoma City and Claremore; however, he lived the last 46 years of his life in Sulphur, Oklahoma.

He was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Agnes and LeRoy Bumpus {Gran and Potty}, the second son of seven children. He traveled to California after his high school graduation and during his employment there, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943. Following his combat service in World War II, he attended Oklahoma A&M University.

While working in Kansas City, he met and married Nova Don Bausch in June of 1952. They had five children. After several career changes, he spent most of his working life farming in southern Oklahoma. He was blessed to have ten grandchildren and became their Papa. Years later, he became a great-grandfather to five.

He was predeceased by his mother, father and three of his brothers, LeRoy, John and Dickie. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nova Don "Donie", his sisters, Jeanne O'Connor and Joanne McCormick and his brother Frank Bumpus and his wife Glenda, son Michael Bumpus and his wife Helen, daughter Anna Heaney and her husband Ray, daughter Lisa Bumpus, son Patrick Bumpus and his wife Laurel, daughter Sandra McGehee, along with his grandchildren, Kara Dunleavy and her husband Kevin, Erin Bailey and her husband Brian, Katy and Mica Bumpus, Tim and Jeff Wohlgemuth, their wives Jessika and Candida, Tanner and Emily McGehee and Chris and Alex Bumpus and five great grandchildren, Bridget, Rory, Esry, Eamon and Olive.

One of his greatest goals in his life was being a "good provider" in setting up his family for success. We, his family, strongly believe he accomplished this goal to the fullest. May he finally rest in peace and comfort with the Lord Our Savior.

Graveside services will be Monday, April 11, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery with Father Thomas Dowdell officiating.
