On Friday, April 1, 2016 our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Darrell Bird passed away in Logan, Utah. Darrell LeRoy Bird was the 2nd born twin born to John Roy Bird and Natalea Hansen Bird on November 15, 1931. He was born at home in Dingle, ID with only a mid wife who was his Grandma Bird. What a surprise it was to have twins. Darrell was born 20 minutes after Dennis. The twins had four other siblings - William, Mary, Murline, and Delmar. Delmar died when he was one years old. Darrell went to school in Dingle through the eighth grade in a four room school house. He graduated from High School in Montpelier. After graduation he worked at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. He then worked at the Covey Bagley Dayton Ranch in Cokeville, Wyoming. Later coming back to Montpelier where he married, built a home, and worked at Elmer Jensen Grocery store. It was during this time that his two children Janis and Steven were born.

He was a sports enthusiast who loved all sports, especially baseball. He coached little league baseball for the city leagues in Montpelier and attended many sporting events throughout his life. Darrell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as Sunday School President, Elder Quorum Secretary, Young Men's President, Ward Clerk, and High Priest Group Leader. He was also a member of the Lions Club and helped with many projects while living in Montpelier. Darrell worked for Nabisco 34 years while living in Montpelier and Providence, and after retiring worked for Macey's for 14 years in Providence.

Darrell is survived by his wife Joanna, a daughter Janis (Daryle) James, son Steven (Wynn) Bird, his twin brother Dennis (Carolyn) Bird, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, and two wives. We know there was a grand reunion with his loved ones.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 7 at 11:00 at the LDS Chapel 75 East Center Street in Hyde Park with a viewing prior from 9:30 to 10:30 and graveside services will be at Montpelier Cemetery following the funeral approximately 2:00.
