Toni Hughes was born on July 13, 1935 to RoyLee Harkins and Claudia Epps Bair in Stonewall, Oklahoma. Toni was the proud descendant of George Washington Harkins, Chief of the Choctaw Nation during the Trail of Tears.
She was happily married to her husband, Tom, for 62 years. Together they lived in Attleboro, MA, San Bernardino, CA; Modesto, CA; San Diego, CA; Star, ID, and finally Boise. Toni worked as an X-ray Tech at St Bernadine Medical Center until she retired to move to Idaho to be close to her grandchildren. Toni enjoyed life to the fullest, square dancing, ballroom dancing, movie days with her daughter & granddaughter, being surrounded and spoiling children no matter who they officially belonged to, donning her orange & blue gear to cheer on the BSU Broncos, volunteering for Idaho National Teenager pageant, volunteering for Mrs. Idaho America pageant and cheering for contestants at the national Mrs. America pageant. She loved RVing with friends and spending winters in Arizona, reading (especially Catherine Coulter books), flowers of every kind and color, the annual beach trip with daughter Sher, Bunco with the Babes, Bunco at the church and any excuse for a family get together. Toni loved being a member of the Meridian Assembly of God and the Oasis Group, staff member of the Mrs. Idaho America Pageant, member of the Race for the Cure team for 10 years and the Women’s Fitness Celebration team for 5 years.
Grateful for having shared her life are her loving family - her daughter, Sher Finke and her husband Mike, of Meridian; her son, Daniel Hughes, of Middleton; her son, Jeffrey Hughes and her wife Natausha, of Boise; her son, Michael Hughes and her wife Judy, of Kuna; her brother Albert Harkins of Banning CA, Brother Marty Bair of Bullhead City AZ, Sister-in-Law Claire Foss, of Jasper, IN; 8 granddaughters; 4 grandsons; 9 great granddaughters; 12 great grandsons; her family at the Meridian Assembly of God, the Oasis Group, and many years of pageant contestants.
Toni was welcomed home by her beloved husband Tom, her grandparents Jesse & Angie (Hart) Epps; her Father RoyLee Harkins; her Mother Claudia Bair; her son, Thomas Hughes Jr; her son-in-law, John Dandeneau; and her daughter-in-law, April Hughes.
